Brewers are good folks. Our friends Sarah Gayle from Tradesman Brewing on James Island and Macey from Frothy Beard Brewing on North Charleston started “Brewster’s Brew Day,” where they invite ladies of any experience level to come out and help brew a beer. They’ve done this at their respective breweries, and we were thrilled to pitch in as well.

For their day at Holy City, 14 women came together to brew Madam Basil, a saison brewed with the namesake herb. The basil is subtle, completing the fruity aroma from the saison yeast instead of overpowering it. Balanced and proper, like the name suggests.

Maybe best of all, $1 from every pint sold of this beers goes to help My Sister’s House, a great organization that says what they do a lot better than we can:

“MY SISTER’S HOUSE, INC. is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that provides services, programs and resources to empower domestic violence victims and their children to live free from abuse. The organization operates an emergency temporary shelter at an undisclosed location for up to 36 women and children who flee abusive situations in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties in South Carolina.”
