MUSC Hoops for Hope
MUSC Hoops for Hope is a family-friendly event, including both a basketball tournament and after party, dedicated to increasing mental health awareness and education. All proceeds from this event benefit the MUSC Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and support programs dedicated to mental health research, treatment, and education at MUSC. Everyone deserves a shot at good mental health.
MUSC Hoops for Hope promises:
•3-on-3 tournament (including a 40+ bracket) running during the day
PRIZE: $1,500 to the winning team in competitive bracket; $1000 to the winning 40+ team (subject to SC tax regulations)
•Free throw competition
PRIZE: $500 (subject to SC tax regulations)
Hoops for Hope Fundraiser and Silent Auction promises:
•Food and beverage included in admission price of just $20 (advanced, $25 at the door)
•Local craft beers featuring Holy City Brewing, as well as Sierra Nevada beers
•Children’s activities (a whole area dedicated to the kiddos!)
•LIVE MUSIC by Fowler’s Mustache
•You don’t have to like basketball to enjoy the fundraiser! Come out and have a good time for a great cause!

MUSC Hoops for Hope is an up-and-coming event for the Charleston area. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC is one of the most highly regarded academic departments of psychiatry in the country. Did You Know … according to a recently published article (Plos Medicine Journal, Nov. 2013), depression is now the 2nd leading cause of global disability, with the highest rates of incidence affecting working-age adults?!
