Big Ass Stout was a beer that we brewed back in 2016. We knew that this beer was destined for greatness, so we put it into whiskey barrels and left it alone…until now. This beer is big, complex and boozy, with a sturdy ABV of 10.2%, and has a nice roasty quality from the combination of the pale, biscuit, crystal, flaked barley and black malts. Five years in the barrel made this beer weird, in a delightfully drinkable way filled with dark sour fruit notes. Some tartness, and whiskey notes on the back end round it out to be a nice new edition to the barrel-aged beer line up that Holy City offers each fall and winter.
